France Valmeinier Set amongst the spectacular scenery of the Maurienne Valley, Valmeinier is an excellent purpose-built resort with a friendly and very French atmosphere. Valmeinier's idyllic location allows it to benefit from both the sunshine of the Southern Alps and the snow records of the Northern Alps. It offers quite spectacular views over the surrounding mountains. Valmeinier is linked with Valloire and together the two resorts provide an excellent ski area at the foot of the Galibier Pass. The resort is very well suited to beginners with suitable slopes both around the resort centre and further up the mountain, but it is the intermediates who benefit from the bulk of skiing here, with 50% of the runs of an intermediate level. Experts will enjoy the mogul field down into Valmeinier which offers steep, challenging bumps, as well as the other black tree lined runs. A boarder cross and snow park above Valloire offers plenty of fun for snowboarders. The Après-ski scene at Valmeinier is laid back and relaxed, with several bars and restaurants in which to unwind after a hard day on the slopes.
