France Morzine

Morzine is a picturesque old-style Savoyard market town which successfully blends its old-world history with new-world entertainment. The village has an unspoilt centre with plenty of character, charm and excellent après-ski facilities yet it is in the middle of one of the most extensive ski regions in the Alps, Les Portes du Soleil.

Morzine is known for offering something for everyone. From the snow-cannoned Pleney nursery slopes in the middle of the resort to the wide-open reds of the Les Gets bowl, untracked Chamoissiere off-piste or mogul fields and couloirs of Prodains, the variety and challenge are almost limitless. On the first tentative days, beginners will particularly appreciate some of the local runs on gentle tree-filled slopes. For intermediates the local slopes offer challenging reds and easy blacks. From the Les Gets ridge a wonderful run called Le Grand Pre brings you nicely back to the village at the end of the day. We consider this a great resort for intermediates of mixed ability, but there is plenty to do for experts too - regardless of experience no one would be able to cover the whopping 650km of pistes that Les Portes du Soleil has to offer during one trip!

It is also fantastic all round as a snowboard region.

Morzine wakes up for the winter season with a vast array of pavement cafés, bars, restaurants, clubs, sports shops and boutiques. It has been one of the most popular resorts for French families since the early 1950s, and is now an extremely popular resort for British families and groups, testament to the reasonable prices, warm welcome, fine cuisine and excellent facilities.
